Food and Waterborne Infectious Disease Threats Symposium

Presenters included noted experts from the CDC, Montana State University, South Carolina Bureau of Disease Control, Georgia Department of Agriculture, and the Georgia Division of Public Health. The conference educated the community on critical issues such as BSE/prions, food and water safety, southeastern state experiences, veterinary issues, surveillance issues and epidemiologic trends.

Objectives:

  1. Share current knowledge on food and waterborne infectious disease threats
  2. Share southeastern state experiences with food and waterborne infectious disease threats
  3. Identify and share best practices
  4. Identify and prioritize key research questions and develop research strategies for the region
  5. Support regional collaborations that leverage the national efforts of state public health programs and the CDC
